Shape the garden.
Place a leaf, a dewdrop or a stone. Your choices shape the journey without drawing a single line.
THE SLOW ATELIER / VOL. 02
A quiet corner of the internet. Make a garden, meet your little artist, and see what grows.
Tap to plant. Arrow keys move the cursor; Enter plants an element.
Place a leaf, a dewdrop or a stone. Your choices shape the journey without drawing a single line.
A dreamer curves, an explorer roams, a shy snail lingers. Watch the same garden become a different story.
Save the finished line art, revisit its recipe, or send a tiny masterpiece to someone you miss.
Every work begins with a seed. Choose a study, change one little thing, and follow a new possibility.

A real behavior. A little imagination. A clear line between the two.
Snails move over a layer of mucus. Trail following has been observed in several gastropod species; its functions vary with the animal and context. Research on the marine snail Littorina littorea found reduced mucus expenditure when following a trail. This does not mean every snail always follows an old path.
Read the trail-following study ↗Here, dewdrops invite wide curves, leaves encourage orbiting, and stones bend a route away. These are artistic rules, not biological claims. A seeded movement engine creates the path; a separate renderer turns it into botanical marks, stars or ribbons. Changing ink keeps the underlying path intact.
Each new walk gets a different seed. The environment and personality constrain the movement, while seeded variation changes the small turns. The same saved DNA restores the same sequence; adding a leaf changes its forces.
You design the conditions, rather than placing every mark. The movement engine and rendering rules become creative collaborators. The resulting piece records a small process unfolding over time.
Leaves add a tangential pull, dew adds a broad orbit and stones repel. These invented forces give the route structure. They help turn wandering into a composition instead of unconnected random steps.

Yes. Export your own generated artwork as PNG or SVG. The exported artwork omits the garden and snail, leaving a clean print. Give it a title before saving.
A recipe link stores a version, seed, personality, garden, ink, duration and placed elements. Opening it restores those conditions. The short code is a readable fingerprint; share the full recipe link to reproduce a piece.
No account is needed. Your museum is stored in this browser, up to 12 works. Clearing browser storage removes it. Download important works; the site has no cloud gallery or public upload.
Write a short message and create a link. The recipient opens a fresh walk with your recipe; the message is revealed at the end. The text is part of the link, so it is not a private messaging service.
No. Pause, finish early or choose a faster speed. A 30-second walk is selected by default. Reduced-motion visitors can generate the finished piece immediately.
